Thank you for your interest in The Orlando Advocate. We are Central Florida’s Only Urban Lifestyle Weekly newspaper.
While our market is principally African-American, the Advocate is published for the reader who wants to be informed about the political and economic issues impacting Central Florida’s African-American community. We specialize in hands-on information and investigative reports. Our readership is sophisticated, upwardly mobile, and passionate about information.
Advertising in The Advocate will put you directly in touch with your market. And it IS your market. Orlando’s black community is the 7th fastest growing community in the nation– and the 4th fastest growing in black middle- to upper-income-levels. What’s good for you is that we know our market.
The average Black household contains 2.57 persons, so each Advocate taken home by a reader reaches at least 2 people.
Apart from housing, transportation and food– which, at 1/3 of total expenditures, represent the biggest portion of annual spending by Backs, personal insurance and pensions, healthcare, entertainment, clothing, and education, along with personal care, tobacco, alcohol, and reading make up another 30%. An effective advertising campaign can help you get a share of this vibrant and growing market.
There’s no secret to effective advertising: advertise frequently in a medium that connects with your target market. Successful companies bombard you with ads. Would you remember the name “McDonald’s” if you’d only heard one hamburger ad?
With a distribution of 7,500 papers, and a confirmed 2.57 adults per household, we communicate with nearly 20,000 urban market readers each week. It is an unusually diverse group. Seventy percent are black; 30 percent are white. Most are loyal readers who trust us, and they support our advertisers.
Our papers are placed in churches, retail businesses, offices, convenience stores and conveniently located in street-level newspaper boxes. We’ve been online since 1997.
Let us be a part of your advertising strategy. And welcome aboard.

We use Square as our primary payment provider, although for customers with Paypal accounts who prefer to pay through Paypal, we will send a Paypal invoice on request.
To pay a Square Invoice, simply click Pay Invoice in the invoice notification email.
You’ll need the following information:
- Name on card
- Card number

- 3-digit verification code
The invoice will state the time your payment is due (10 days, 14 days, 30 days, etc.).
For those who are interested in donating to our “Change for Charity” project, a collaboration with the Cornerstone Baptist Church that selects a local charity each year whose efforts are making a change in the local community, simply include a “tip” with your payment. You can add a donation of up to 50% of the invoice total.
If you have any questions about the items listed, amount owed, or would like to request a refund before your ad runs, reply from your invoice email to contact us.
If we have any special information or directions for you, it will be found inside your invoice. Click Pay Invoice to open invoice details, and scroll to the bottom of the page for any shared contact information.
