KEANSBURG, N.J. — Eleven-year-old Abbigail Smith has been found dead after being missing for less than 24 hours. The child was last seen in her apartment around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday and was reported missing by her mother about an hour later.
Police posted a flyer with information about the girl early Thursday morning, and a few hours later, at 10:45 a.m., Abbie’s body was found near the apartment complex where she lived with her mother.
The death has been ruled a homicide and police are investigating it as such. There is no word as of yet as to whether or not the child was sexually assaulted.
