NAACP Installs 2017-18 Officers at Annual Meeting
The Orange County Branch NAACP held its Annual Meeting and monthly General Membership Meeting at 7:00 p.m. on December 19, 2016 at the New Covenant Baptist Church, 2210 S. Rio Grande Avenue, Orlando, FL 32805. Outgoing President Kran Riley who earlier declined to run for a fourth term convened the meeting and presented the annual report of the past year’s accomplishments and highlights.
Mr. Riley reiterated that he remains on the Florida State Conference NAACP officership as the administrator of the district which also contains Orange County and will be at hand for continued work in the Branch as well as any other area needs. He thanked the Branch and attendees for their active support and work with the NAACP programs and services during his past years of an enjoyable tenure that saw the nation-wide much sought after holding of the National Convention brought here in 2013. He also thanked the Orange County residential and business community for the very noteworthy and most beneficial service and cooperation that they had so superbly provided for useful regional partnership.
At the close of the business session the Incoming 2017-18 President and Executive Committee were installed by Judge Faye L. Allen, Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Afterwards, incoming President Beverlye Neal gave a sincere appreciation to the Branch and members for their trust and honor in electing her. She briefly outlined a plan of action to the enthusiastic group for beginning with the next 2 years that would include and require participation of and benefit all members, the community citizens and business supporters. The newly elected Executive Committee members includes John Cummings, Luciana DeShay, Joel Hamm, Reginald McGill, Barbara Newton and Vivian Tindal.
President-Elect Neal also announced that the General Membership Meetings henceforth will be held on the fourth Monday of each month, 7:00 p.m. at the Northwest Center, and the Executive Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday monthly.
