AfroBasket: Tunisia set for basketball championship

19 August 2015 Last updated at 00:18 BST

The AfroBasket Championship opens in the Tunisian capital Tunis on Wednesday with some of the continent’s national basketball teams competing to appear in the final at the end of the month.

The host country won the title for the first time back in 2011.

The championship is taking place at a sensitive time in the country after the two deadly militant attacks targeting the tourism industry in recent months.

Some are hoping the tournament is a chance for Tunisia to prove it can overcome these challenges.

Basketball is the country’s third most popular sport but for the players it is their life, and a passion that never dies.

The BBC’s Rana Jawad took the opportunity to test her basketball skills in Tunis.
